Designing an Effective Website

When creating a website for the first time, all unfamiliar elements might seem complicated. This might be true to a certain extent, but today’s software has simplified the process.

You can build web pages using an editor like Adobe Dreamweaver. With this software, you can write each web page like you would any document editor. Likewise, images can be dragged and dropped easily. Some practice may be needed to get the desired results.

Alternatively, you can create a professional website for free by using or altering some available templates found on the Internet. For you to successfully present your ideas, the layout design needs to be simple yet effective. Primarily, this context must encompass clear and well-organized content that will make everybody understand and appreciate it.

Easy and quick navigation

Always include a link that will bring them back to the Home page. Create a navigation structure that is common for all the pages on your Web.

Keep the use of hyperlinks inside your text paragraphs to a minimum. Do not use hyperlinks inside text paragraphs to send your guests to every random page of your Web. If you must use hyperlinks, add them to the bottom of a paragraph or the navigation menus of your site.

One key aspect to making your visitors happy is insuring they reach where they need to go, quickly and efficiently. A good navigation design comes from experience and should be one of the most important aspects of your site design project.

Create a simple logo to identify your website. Have a captivating tagline somewhere with the header, and write an About Us page that describes the uniqueness of your website. These will leave an impression for your visitors to remember your website.

Choosing color

Have a clear color scheme based on the theme of your site. Carefully choose a set of colors for your background, borders, tables, text, cells, etc. The color scheme expresses the characters of your website and makes it attractive and unique.

Applying graphics to your designs

When choosing a design, ensure that it is appropriate for your project. It is crucial to remember that most of your visitors have not spoken to you yet, and your site will be the first impression they have of your company.

If your website design lacks professionalism or does not reflect that of a well-established business, your new prospect can lose confidence.

  • Try to avoid mediocre things like flashing images, page counters, java text scrolling, GIF images, and notices which say “page under construction .” Or, too many animations or illustrations, fade-ins, or black grounds.
  • Instead of using downloaded illustrations, use original ones when possible. Your design should convey what it has to stylishly.
  • Avoid things like larger files or graphics. These will slow down your page’s loading time and can negatively impact SEO. In some cases, GIF is better than JPEG files. Think of the target audience and subject being addressed when designing. The overall effect should be that of exclusivity.

A simple design and layout make it easier for you to build your site. The result will be a website that your visitors will find simple to navigate and easy to acquire whatever information they want.
